EDUNATION ‘PATHWAY TO FINLAND’ EXPLAINED
If you are considering applying to study in Finland using Edunation’s ‘Pathway to Finland’ programme, there are many things that you need to know before applying. This this blog (and the video below) explains everything that you need to know about the programme and the value that you can receive from it.
Pathway to Finland in short
The ‘Pathway to Finland’ by Edunation programme is designed for international students who wish to start their university studies in Finland, but who do NOT YET meet the requirements to pass a normal university application process on their own. The idea of the Pathway to Finland programme is to help you prepare for your higher education studies and to reach the skills needed to start your university studies in Finland. In fact, after you have successfully completed your Pathway studies, you will be eligible to start your studies at one of the Edunation partner universities in Finland.

What can you study in Pathway to Finland?
The next important question is, what fields can you study after completing the Pathway to Finland programme? Well, Pathway to Finland is currently divided into three different tracks, each of which will lead to admission for undergraduate studies in their respective fields. The three tracks currently available are:
After completing one of these tracks, you will have a choice between a number of excellent universities and study programmes in your field. For example, after completing the engineering and technology track, you could choose to study construction engineering, information and communication technologies, mechanical engineering, electrical and automation engineering or mechatronics.
You should also note that Edunation is planning to expand the current selection of track to even more fields and educational levels. In fact, Edunation is currently planning on expanding the tracks to cover both Master’s (graduate) level programmes as well as vocational level programmes. Some of the new tracks being planned cover arts and design, gaming and practical nursing. However, even more tracks are being planned for the future so make sure to check out the latest available tracks and programmes from Educations website.
What does Pathway to Finland teach you?
Alright so you can get guaranteed admission to study in Finland – thats awesome! The next question is, what does the Pathway programme actually teach you? The 15 week long programme consists of English language studies and general subject-specific studies (based on the chosen track). All of the courses in the programme have been designed to develop your academic skills, including communication, critical thinking, as well as research skills, and they will provide you with the tools to start your university studies in Finland. In addition to these subjects, Edunation also organises separate Finnish language courses that are a great way to prepare you for your life in Finland.
Where can Pathway to Finland be done?
Talking about preparing for your life in Finland, the Pathway programme can be taken either online or done at physical Study Hubs which are typically located at university campuses either in Finland or abroad. Studying your Pathway courses in a physical Study Hub means that you could arrive to Finland already for the Pathway courses, and you would get the same study experience as you would online BUT on top of that, you would also experience a real campus environment with great supporting services. How much time does the Pathway to Finland take?
In terms of the hours that you need to spend studying, Pathway to Finland requires full-time studies with weekly classes and lectures as well as independent studies and group work that happen outside the lectures. In order to graduate from the programme, you will need to successfully pass a set of mandatory assignments and exams. Do note that you are allowed to retake exams and assignments twice, but if you fail these re-sits, you will have to retake the whole study course during the next available semester.
What are the benefits of doing the Pathway to Finland?
1. Get a head start on your studies in Finland
First, by completing the pathway courses, you will get a great head start on your university studies in Finland. Not only do you learn valuable skills that will become useful during your studies, but you will also get a great first taste to the Finnish university systems and culture. This will make it so much easier for you to adjust to your studies in Finland because you will already know what a typical university course in Finland looks like.
2. Easy and fast application process
Not only is the application form used by Edunation easier and faster to fill compared to the normal university application forms, but the application processing times are also much faster compared to normal university applications.
In addition, applying to the Pathway to Finland programme will allow you to skip any entrance exams and interviews that you would normally have to do physically in Finland.
Also, when applying to the Pathway to Finland programme, you do not have to do the IELTS language proficiency tests. Instead there are a number of other language tests that you can use – including the Duolingo proficiency test.
3. Guaranteed admission to a university in Finland!
After completing the Pathway to Finland programme, you will be granted a guaranteed entry to a Bachelor’s (undergraduate) level programme in Finland one of the pre-selected Edunation partner universities in your field.
4. Transfer credits towards your university degree
Since the Pathway courses are recognised by the Edunation partner universities in Finland you can transfer up to one semester worth of credits completed during the Pathway programme towards your degree in Finland. This means that once you arrive to Finland, you will not have to start from zero and you will also be able to save money in tuition fees by completing your degree faster than normal.
How much does the Pathway to Finland cost?
The one semester long Pathway to Finland programme costs 1900 euros. In addition, all Pathway applicants are required to pay a 50 euro application fee (remember to use the code “Oliver” to get a 50 euro discount on the application fee).

Pathway to Finland application requirements
The exact application criteria and the required documents vary somewhat depending on your chosen Pathway programme (meaning whether you apply to the business, tech or nursing tracks) as well as on the selected universities. However, the general application criteria are as follows:
You need to hold at minimum a high school diploma
You need to have a set of documents proving your eligibility to apply – most importantly the transcript of records from your previous degree with the grading scale in English
Proof of your English language proficiency
Copy of your passport ID page
Please note that you can prove your English language proficiency in a variety of ways including the IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo or an equivalent language proficiency test. Edunation has also, at times, approved students to the programme without a language tests using an online interview. This is relevant especially if you aren’t, for some reason, able to conduct any of the accepted language tests. Still, please note that Edunation has the last word when it comes to these interviews. How to apply to Pathway to Finland?
Finally, how do you apply to the Pathway to Finland programme? The application process itself is very straight forwards and consists of the following steps:
Choose a study track that you are interested in. Again, these are the business, engineering and technology and nursing tracks.
Learn about the exact application criteria and required documents from Edunation’s website, after which, fill in the application form with all the documents attached.
Pay the service fee of 50 euros OR insert the discount code that i have in the description box below to get a 50 euro discount on the application.
Submit the application form and check your email for feedback and guidance for the next steps.
After you have submitted the application, Edunation will process your application and the attached documents. Do note that Education processes the application at a very fast phase and you should check your email for acceptance or feedback already within 1 day of your application. This means that if you qualify to start the Pathway to Finland programme, you will know about this just days after your application. Thats fast!
